Orthodontics is a branch of science that works for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders occurring in the face, jaw, tooth and jaw structure and the prevention of such problems. Orthodontic treatments that start at a young age support the development of the jaw structure and eliminate the problems that may be experienced in the following years. Orthodontic treatment is aimed at solving the problems of crooked teeth, disorders in the jaw and face structure and closing in the mouth that occur over time in adult individuals.
Orthodontic treatments are a separate specialty and are performed by specialist physicians who have received orthodontic specialty training for at least 4 years following 5 years of dentistry. Facial and jaw disorders that are congenital or later caused by different reasons are treated by the cooperation of different medical disciplines.
Causes of Orthodontic Problems?
The problems of the majority of our patients who visit our clinic for the treatment of facial and jaw problems they suffer from are jaw and dental disorders caused by using bottles or pacifiers for a long time in children and finger sucking. In addition, the loss of milk teeth earlier or later than usual is among the causes of orthodontic problems. In addition to such congenital or acquired problems, jaw structure disorders caused by traumas due to different causes are among the problems requiring orthodontic treatment.
When Should Orthodontic Controls Start?
As orthottians we recommend that regular check-ups be started from the age of 6-7, when the infancy period ends and the permanent teeth begin to erupt. Intervention at an early age is very important in order to prevent possible aesthetic losses due to disorders in the jaw structure or crooked development in the teeth. It should not be forgotten that as the age progresses, the expectations in terms of the result to be obtained from the treatment and the duration of treatment can be met at a lower level.
The duration of orthodontic treatment may vary according to the problem and the treatment method to be applied. Our patients who visit our clinic for treatment purposes are fully informed about the treatment process and the method to be applied after the first examination by our specialist orthodontists. Depending on the method to be applied, the treatment is terminated as a result of the controls carried out at intervals of 4-6 weeks.
How Does the Orthodontic Treatment Process Work?
Treatment processes in our clinic begin with the first examination. After the first examination by our specialist orthodontist physicians, the disorder in the tooth and jaw structure, the incompatibility of the teeth or deformities are diagnosed and the kind of treatment should be applied is determined. The treatment method to be applied varies according to the mouth, tooth and jaw structure of the patient.
Oral care and hygiene are of great importance in orthodontic treatment. For this reason, if the patient has any problem that prevents the patient from starting treatment during the examination, this problem should be eliminated first. For example, if there is a carious tooth in the patient’s mouth, the patient should first be treated for the caries and the patient should be made ready for treatment.
In orthodontic treatment, fixed or removable removable removable devices are attached to the tooth or jawbone. Movable apparatus is usually used during periods of mixed dentition of the individual between the ages of 7 and 12 years. These apparatuses, which guide the regular eruption of the teeth, also support the healthy development of the jaw. If they are fixed devices,
- Transparent Brackets,
- Metal Brackets
- And there are three different types as Lingual Brackets.
Transparent Bracket
The transparent bracket, which is preferred by our patients with more aesthetic concerns, can be in the natural tooth color or in a completely transparent appearance. It is preferred by adult patients because it is more difficult to notice than metal brackets.
Metal Bracket
The metal bracket, which is mostly applied to our adolescent patients, guides the proper development of the teeth by being adhered to the teeth one by one. It is also possible for the teeth to move with the help of the wire passing between them.
Lingual Bracket
The lingual bracket is glued to the inner surface of the teeth, standing steadily. The most important features are that they completely eliminate aesthetic concerns because they are not seen from the outside. However, compared to transparent and metal brackets, the treatment times are slightly longer.
Apart from the wire apparatus, transparent plaques used to remove tooth distortions are another treatment method. It is removed only during meals and dental cleaning, and as a result of regular use, tooth distortions are corrected and the patient has a more aesthetic and healthy tooth structure. Braceless orthodontic treatment is used only for the treatment of disorders in the teeth. It is not suitable for the treatment of problems in the chin and face area.
Invisaling (Transparent Plaque) Treatment
Invisaling (transparent plaque) treatment, which has been used for many years in many countries of the world and has become one of the most popular treatment methods in Turkey in recent years, is generally preferred by people who prefer to do tooth correction treatment away from aesthetic concerns. In this treatment method, transparent plaques are attached to the patients instead of braces and the teeth are ensured to take their natural order.
After the first examination of our patients who prefer this method, their records are taken by taking the measurements of the teeth or by digital scanning. Transparent plaques specially prepared for the person in the Invisaling laboratory are inserted into the mouth of our patient by our specialist physicians and the treatment process is initiated. How many transparent plaques will be inserted and how long the treatment will last may vary depending on the problem in the patient’s teeth.
What should be considered in the orthodontic treatment process?
In order to obtain the most effective results in long-term treatments, it is necessary to come to the controls determined by our physicians regularly. It is very important that oral and dental care is carried out completely during the treatment period in order to meet the expectations of the result to be obtained. Before the treatment is fully completed, it is necessary to avoid consuming fruits such as carrots, apples and hard shelled foods that may damage the tooth structure.
Orthodontic Treatment Prices
