Bleaching

Bleaching

Bleaching is a method applied to ensure that the teeth that have lost their natural color appearance due to different reasons regain their true color appearance. The bleaching method, which makes significant contributions to facial aesthetics with a small touch, is an aesthetic work that should be done by specialist dentists and requires a meticulous procedure.

Teeth lose their natural shine by wearing out over time and as a result of the tooth enamel becoming porous, they usually take on a different color with the effect of excessive tea-coffee consumption and smoking. The common demand of all our patients who apply to our clinic due to such problems is to have more aesthetic and glowing teeth. Today, although many different methods and materials are recommended for teeth whitening, most of them cause harmful results in terms of health. So much so that bleaching or similar methods in a day with chemical or herbal products whose content is not clear have no medical validity.

How is Bleching Done?

Almost everyone who cares about facial aesthetics is curious about how permanent tooth whitening can be done. Today, thanks to tooth whitening, which can be done with different methods and in a short time under the supervision of our specialist dentists, teeth can maintain their natural appearance for many years.

All patients who apply to our clinic with the request to whiten their teeth are first examined by our specialist physicians. After the examination, it is determined whether the teeth are suitable for whitening applications. If there is any oral problem that will interfere with the bleaching process, it is eliminated first. After all the problems are eliminated, the tooth whitening process is started with the approval of the patient.

Bleaching Methods

  • Office Type Bleaching (Office Bleaching)
  • Home Bleaching

Office type bleaching method is applied by our specialist dentists in our clinic.

Office Type bleaching

This method, which provides effective results in a very short time, is also known as laser bleaching. Thanks to this method, which is performed by activating the whitening gel applied on the teeth with the help of UV (Ultraviolet) rays from the laser device, it is possible to whiten the teeth in a short time such as about an hour. During office type teeth whitening, different products can be used according to patient demand or physician recommendation. Some products can be applied without the help of laser beams and whitening can be achieved in a shorter time. In this method, which provides painless bleaching in a single session, it is also possible to both whiten the tooth and restore a more robust structure by using dual gel.

Home Type Bleaching

Home type bleaching is another method applied with the supervision and recommendation of a physician.  If the home tooth whitening method is deemed appropriate by the physician in the first oral and dental examination performed in our clinic, the intraoral measurements of our patient are taken and personalized, transparent and fully fitting whitening plates are prepared. In the next stage, gel is applied to the plaques prepared with millimeter measurements and placed on the teeth. In this application, which takes longer than the office-type tooth whitening method, the waiting time of the plaques on the teeth is about 6 to 7 hours. Compliance with the number of applications recommended by our specialist physicians is of great importance in terms of the results to be obtained.

Things to Do After Bleaching

Although tooth whitening applications are in a short time, the ability of the teeth to maintain their whiteness for a longer period of time is directly proportional to the measures to be taken by the person to whom the whitening is applied. After teeth whitening,

  • When brushing teeth for several days, brushing the teeth with the help of a softer brush and gently,

  • Avoiding the consumption of foods containing dyestuffs that have the effect of changing the color of the teeth for 2-3 days following the whitening process,
  • Staying away for a few days from acidic drinks and foods that can damage the tooth structure,
  • Staying away from factors such as smoking and alcohol,

These are measures that will allow the teeth to maintain their natural appearance for a longer period of time. If whitening toothpaste is recommended by the physician within the first week, it is necessary to use it only 1 time a day a week after the whitening procedure. During the remaining dental care periods, periodic dental and oral care should be continued with normal toothpastes.

Although social media tools and different sources recommend bleaching methods at home using substances such as baking soda, coconut oil, turmeric, it is not possible for them to really allow teeth whitening. Such applications, which are not performed under the control of a specialist dentist, may cause negative and irreversible consequences in terms of dental and oral health in the future.
